Commercial language products
Data General users can directly run their legacy ICOBOL, VS/COBOL, INFOS and other systems on popular open systems with our Axis COBOL compiler and Choice! COBOL runtime software. Other utilities - such as our WH/Sort sort/merge software - are powerful supersets of the corresponding Data General software.
Computer emulation products
Data General Nova©, Eclipse© and MV© software can now directly run on open systems without any modifications by using our reNOVAte and eMV products. Our advanced emulation technology recreates the complete DG hardware environment down to the register level so current DG-based programs can directly run on modern open systems platforms without any code changes.
No conversion or translation of user code or data is required. This compatibility is so precise that even the original Data General hardware diagnostics run on the new platform just as they do on the DG hardware. Since the legacy software "thinks" it is still running on the original hardware, it runs the same way on the new platform as it does on the DG system.
Additional capabilities also exist to enhance and extend application capabilities and features without any touching a single byte of the original code.
And even if custom hardware interfaces exist that must be supported in the new platform, our special reGenerate interface gives eMV and reNOVAte the ability to control legacy Data General I/O boards or custom user hardware interfaces from the new PC-based platform.
